A new research suggests that consumption of fruits and vegetables do not only provide fibres and benefits of ant-oxidants, but also make skin glowing.
The study was carried out by researchers from St Andrews and Bristoluniversities. It involved 40 volunteers, who provided ratings to 51 Scottish Caucasian faces for healthiness and attractiveness and they got more attracted towards fairer and yellow skin.
Those people, both men and women who have yellow glowing skin, which make them more healthy and attractive is due to yellow pigments known as carotenoids present in specific fruits and vegetables. These pigments give a refreshing look to face by giving it a healthy glow.
The benefits of eating fruits and vegetables associated with skin glow would serve as a good strategy to motivate youngsters to take more portions of fruits and vegetables, expressed study's co-author Ian Stephen. He added that the outcomes of increased consumption of fruits and vegetables could be seen in two months.
"If you want a healthier and more attractive skin color, you are better off eating a healthy diet withplenty of fruit and vegetables than lying in the sun", said Stephen.

Coffee may reduce risk of diabetes LONDON: A study provides new evidence that drinking coffee may help prevent type 2 diabetes.

Scientists are reporting new evidence that drinking coffee may help prevent diabetes and that caffeine may be the ingredient largely responsible for this effect. Their findings, among the first animal studies to demonstrate this apparent link, appear in ACS' Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.

Fumihiko Horio and colleagues note that past studies have suggested that regular coffee drinking may reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. The disease affects millions in the United States and is on the rise worldwide. However, little of that evidence comes from studies on lab animals used to do research that cannot be done in humans.

The scientists fed either water or coffee to a group of laboratory mice commonly used to study diabetes. Coffee consumption prevented the development of high-blood sugar and also improved insulin sensitivity in the mice, thereby reducing the risk of diabetes. Coffee also caused a cascade of other beneficial changes in the fatty liver and inflammatory adipocytokines related to a reduced diabetes risk. Additional lab studies showed that caffeine may be "one of the most effective anti-diabetic compounds in coffee," the scientists say.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) or Acid Reflux Disease is a common stomach disorder where the acids from the stomach are coming up into the esophagus. It is commonly caused by different changes in the area between the stomach and the esophagus.
